At Monster Day Greeley, we live for outrageous costumes, over-the-top props, and unforgettable monster moments. But as our beloved event grows, so does our commitment to keeping it safe, inclusive, and fun for everyone.
That’s why we’re unveiling our updated Costume & Prop Policy for Monster Day 2025 — so you can confidently plan your monstrous look and avoid any surprises at the gate.
Dress to Distress (Within Reason)
Monster Day is all about creativity — the more original, weird, spooky, or spectacular, the better! But keep in mind:
✅ Yes to:
- imaginative designs
- spooky throwbacks
- clever cosplay
- creepy-cute creations
- iconic monsters
❌No to:
- Nudity or body suits that simulate it — if it looks too real, it’s not happening.
- Costumes that are overly revealing or considered inappropriate (we reserve the right to decide).
- Messy materials, if it leaves glitter, goo, or confetti behind, leave it at home.
- Racist, obscene, or hateful imagery in any form.
We want Monster Day to be a celebration for everyone, so keep it fun, respectful, and family-friendly.
Prop It Like It’s Hot (But Not Dangerous)
We love a good monster prop — it’s part of what makes the plaza come alive! But safety is our top priority. Here’s what you can and can’t bring:
❌ Not Allowed:
- Real or replica firearms (even if they’re deactivated)
- Metal or wooden weapons (think swords, bats, pipes, etc.)
- Props that shoot, spark, smoke or explode.
- Laser pointers or working lasers
- Blunt instruments that could cause harm
✅ Allowed (With Caution):
- Foam or rubber weapons, toy swords and lightsabers. Just don’t swing them around.
- Nerf-type guns, but keep the darts, rounds and shells at home.
- Prop bows and slingshots are cool, but no arrows or projectiles of any kind.
All props are subject to on-site inspection. If we ask you to surrender a prop, please cooperate. Refusal could mean being asked to leave the event.
Final Scare Check
The Monster Day staff has the final say on all costume and prop approvals. Let’s keep the scares fun, not frightening for the wrong reasons.
We can’t wait to see your amazing, creative, spooky, and safe looks this August!
