Get ready to strut your spooky stuff, because Monster Day Greeley 2025 is rolling out a revamped Costume Parade and Contest and it’s more thrilling than ever. Whether you’re a haunted house veteran or a first-time monster maker, this is your moment to shine, snarl and maybe even snag a prize.
Here’s what you need to know about this year’s frightfully fun updates:
The Costume Parade: It’s Show Time
Time to put your claws, capes, and creativity on display.
The Monster Parade starts at 2:30 p.m. sharp on Saturday, August 23. Everyone in costume is welcome to join—no registration required. Just line up near the stage (outside the Rio on 9th Avenue) starting at 2:15 p.m. and get ready to march across the plaza.
Wave to the crowd, give your best ghoulish grin for the cameras, and soak in the monstrous applause. This is your chance to get noticed by the judges and have a blast doing it.
New Rules, Bigger Thrills
This year’s Costume Contest is turning heads with a new twist:
Here’s how it works:
- Be seen to be selected.
- From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Monster Day staff will be roaming the 9th Street plaza, watching for killer costumes. If your look slays (in the best way), you’ll be handed an entry badge.
- No badge, no contest. So bring your A-game and be visible, everyone will be welcome to join the Monster Day Parade.
- Badge in hand? Head to the alley.
- If selected, report to the brick wall in the alley east of the main stage by 2:30 p.m. for lineup. Judges may want a closer peek before you hit the stage.
- Show us what you’ve got.
- After the parade, you’ll take to the main stage for your moment in the monster spotlight. You’ll get up to 20 seconds to impress: strut, roar, pose, twirl—whatever shows off your creature’s character.
- Need accommodations for stage access? No worries—we’ve got you covered. Let us know in advance and we’ll ensure you’re in the spotlight, with or without the steps.
Judging, Categories & Monstrous Prizes
After the final howl on stage, our judges will deliberate while monster beats fill the air. Then it’s time to award the winners with some BIG prizes in the following categories:
- Judge’s Favorite (Best in Show)
- Judge’s Favorite Runner-Up #1
- Judge’s Favorite Runner-Up #2
- Most Creative Costume
- Favorite Kids Costume (13 & under)
- Favorite Kids Costume Runner-Up (13 & under)
Whether you’re a DIY scarecrow, a horror icon, or a walking work of art, there’s a chance to win big and earn eternal bragging rights. Prizes will be officially announced at a later date.
A Few Frighteningly Important Reminders
- Costumes and props must comply with the Monster Day Costume & Prop Policy. Safety first, monsters!
- No repeat winners with the same costume from previous years, show us something new and fresh.
- Be spooky, be respectful, and most of all, have fun.
