Monster Day Greeley Costumes

Monster Day will take over Downtown Greeley again on Saturday, August 20, 2022, and you’re invited to participate in and/or watch this year’s costume contest. Come show off your monster digs, we don’t care if it’s a store-bought costume, a handmade masterpiece, or just your favorite monster t-shirt…guests are encouraged to dress up for the event. If you’re proud of your costume, enter our costume contest for a chance to strut your monstery stuff on stage for a chance to win prizes from Distortions Unlimited!

Entries are limited, so make sure to check-in at the costume contest registration table located at breezeway just east of Gentry’s on the 9th Street Plaza, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (Contest will start just after 4:00 p.m.) See the official rules below for more details.

Monster Day Greeley 2022 Costume Contest Rules:

  • Put together a costume with your own creativity.  It can be spooky, creepy, funny, crazy, or imaginative.
  • All costumes are welcomed, whether they are homemade, magically summoned, recycled parts of others, spawned, or even rented/purchased.
  • Please keep your costume family-friendly. (No oozing, gooey, or dripping blood or body parts. No real weapons. No nudity.)
  • No costume may include derogatory terms/symbols or hate speech of any kind.
  • If you won with your costume in a previous year, be creative and conjure a different one…you can’t enter that one again.
  • You must be between the ages of zero – 1000 to participate and not actually be dead.  You can appear to be dead… but you must have a pulse.
  • Have fun! Even if you don’t ‘win’, it’s all about having a good time.

How it works:

  • You will bring your clever costumed self to the Costume Contest registration table located at breezeway just east of Gentry’s on the 9th Street Plaza, and sign up between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and get your photo taken.
  • Entries are LIMITED, so please sign up early if you want to participate.
  • At 4:00 p.m., you will come back to this same area to line up for the contest. 
  • Monster Day Staff will assist as you proceed to the Stage of the Undead where you will need to step up two steps onto the stage. Staff will be able to assist in getting on and off the stage.
  • While on the stage, you can use up to 20 seconds to wobble, wiggle, howl, cry, dance or wink at the judges. No biting please. (Parents: You will need to make your way around to the far side of the stage to retrieve your costumed child after they cross the stage.)
  • After the judges deliberate, winners will be called to the stage to receive their prizes.

Prizes Include surprise creations made by Distortion Unlimited, and bragging rights, of course.
